Valentine's Day

Some girls say they don't want flowers for Valentine's Day, in fact they scorn Valentine's Day as a commercial invention to make money. I love Valentine's Day. I love getting flowers a lot. Our first Valentine's Day Brian gave me a beautiful garnet necklace that I treasure. I love having a special date with my husband. I love it. Even though we had an abbreviated date this year (Chipotle and BN) I still had a wonderful time. Here is a picture of the roses my wonderful hubby gave me.

(just kidding, I can't load the picture. they were really pretty!)

We've seen a few good movies lately. The Shipping News (above) was a movie we saw while on our honeymoon, and were dissapointed. The cast is incredible (Kevin Spacey, Julianne Moore, Judi Dench, Kate Blanchet) but it seemed weird and slow at the time. We decided to Netflix it and give it another try. It's a great movie, and we loved it the second time around. It is weird, but the message is really interesting. It's about overcoming your past and putting it behind you. Growing from it. Brian and I must have seen weirder movies since we saw this the first time, becuase it didn't phase us this time.

We also saw Derailed, with Clive Owen and Jennifer Aniston. It's an extremely dark and violent movie, so not for the faint of heart or for those who are more discriminating about their movie choices than Brian and I are. I almost turned it off halfway through, but I wanted to watch it all the way through to see the ending, and I'm glad I did.

**Spoiler Alert!!**

While Clive Owen, who was cheating on his wife with Jennifer Aniston, ends up on top, in the end, the movie questions whether or not he is a good guy. Just because he didn't *actually* sleep with JA, does that make him ok? Does it make him less evil than the people who were conning him and stealing from him? Does it make him morally superior to them?

Again, a very, very dark movie, and one I would not see again, but a very interesting film nonetheless.

Theologian

You scored as Anselm. Anselm is the outstanding theologian of the medieval period. He sees man's primary problem as having failed to render unto God what we owe him, so God becomes man in Christ and gives God what he is due. You should read 'Cur Deus Homo?'

Jen posted this on her blog, so I thought I would copy. No clue who Anselm is.

Everything is different

As you may have guessed, if you didn't get a phone call and don't check the baby blog, there's a baby in the house now! A fellow blogger, Jen, makes an effort to keep her mommy blog and her personal blog separate. As in, she only talks about her children in context of herself. I will try to do the same, and we'll see how successful I am especially since I am living in complete baby-world for the next two months during my maternity leave.

So, um.... What's up with you?

Only semi-kidding. Actually, as you can see from above, I've been listening to John Mayer a lot. To those of you who know me, that is a radical change. As it happens, I think his new album is a radical departure from his previous work, which, for me is a good thing. I always thought his music was non-descript and that his voice was annoying. His new album, a sort of protest album which uses a lot of blues sounds is much more interesting in its lyrics, melody, and guitar. Check it out, it's good.

Anniversary

IMG_0281

On Wednesday night Brian and I celebrated our fourth anniversary. Can you believe it?! The time has gone so fast, but I feel like we've been married forever. We had a wonderful night. We went to Buckhead's, a restaurant where I only usually find myself with Brian's dad and his wallet, but this was a special occasion. The food was excellent. Brian gave me a beautiful card that made me cry and a GORGEOUS tanzanite necklace. My gift to him was a shopping trip to Nordstrom, where he ended up buying a really nice argyle sweater. We had a wonderful time.
